Volunteer

Why You Are Needed:
As a non-profit organization, The Literacy Project is tackling one of the most pervasive problems facing educators working with disadvantaged children: parents raising children with limited skills and resources. Without help, our communities will see our children grow into adults who are unable to read and write.
The simple reality is that disadvantaged children need more help with reading and writing in and outside of the home. Over 80% of low-income children are below their expected reading level by the fourth grade. A rich supply of books and materials, time, and nurturing from volunteers like you, will help to improve the reading and writing performance of children.
Your Impact:
As a Literacy Project volunteer; you will do your part in helping children who need it most. Over the last 4 years, The Literacy project has served over 100 children in Southeastern Michigan. As a volunteer, you will be an integral part of a dedicated network of action-oriented people who believe that all children, regardless of background, should have an opportunity to succeed in life.
